Generation NEXT!

Recently I've come to realize that, generation next is here!
Watching BET's 106&park at work (don't pass judgment, not my choice), that their are a lot young musicians on the rise! For instance Will&Jada Pinkette-Smith's offspring, 9yr old Willow Smith, and her Hit single "Whip My Hair"

And New Comer Jawan Harris "Nobody"

Hip-hop heir Diggy Simmons "What They Been Waitin' For"

Mary Beth Patterson

Also known as Beth Ditto, she has single handed changed a lot of peoples views on "Big Girls" A risk taker and an activist, this women is living her life the way she feels is right, no regrets no questions.

"Ditto, who is lesbian, is well known for her outspoken support of both LGBT and feminist causes. She is a close friend of Scissor Sisters lead singer Ana Matronic, and considers her favorite song to be "Oh Bondage, Up Yours" by X-Ray Spex. She courted mild controversy in 2006 when, during an interview for NME magazine, she claimed to have eaten squirrels as a child, saying that "people in Arkansas just do – they'd think you were a freak if you ate squid there!"

Ditto is known for her noticeable stage dances and her unique and revealing image. She classes herself as a punk, and thus does not wear deodorant or shave under her armpits, having once remarked that "I think punks usually smell". She has been lauded for her support of positive body image, despite comments from doctors that she may be causing harm to public health by normalising obesity. She also formerly contributed an advice column on body image to The Guardian newspaper." Via Wikipedia

Ditto is the lead singer of the pop/rock band "Gossip" check out some of their videos.

...to E V O L V E

This song by the lovely Ms.Badu says a lot of things, but the video screams out loud, especially the spoken word at the end of it. Ms.Badu speaks of something called "groupthink" and how we are all guilty of it. Guilty of doing it to someone, and being a victim of it.

Be an individual and EVOLVE on your own, before you take part in any group, you must stand alone as an individual so when that group is gone, you don't have to go on a conquest to find who you are.

Back to Love

I never had a connection to this song until recently. It means a lot to me, and I believe it will happen. We can't always think "oh, this can't happen to me" because anything is possible. We must learn to have faith in each other, we must learn to cherish what we have with one another. These connections between people are for a reason, its not just happenstance. I know it will take some time, but we must crawl before we walk, and eventually we will fly together.

Fire Flies

"You would not believe your eyes, if 10 million fireflies, lit up the earth as I fell asleep"

Would you believe your ears if I told you that I loved the sound of "Owl City".

One night I'm driving home from dance rehearsal, and i hear this really catchy synth sound on the radio, than the beat dropped and the lyrics came flying out at me through the speakers, it made me happy actually. My ears smiled with relief as my brain thought "Something new". I immediately wanted to know who the hell this is.

It wasn't until almost a week later, I woke up to that catchy synth, and as my ears smiled again, as my eyes opened slowly to see the name "OWL CITY" and the title of the track was "Fire Flies." My body soon followed my ears and eyes, as I hopped up and danced around my room. I was excited about something new!

"Owl City is an American synthpop musical project by Adam Young. Young started out making music in his parents' basement in Owatonna, Minnesota^[3] which he claims is a result of his insomnia.
"Young's influences are disco and European electronic music.^[4] After two independent albums, Owl City gained mainstream popularity from the 2009 major label debut album Ocean Eyes, which spawned the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 #1 hit single "Fireflies". "Fireflies" topped the US and Canadian charts and became the most-downloaded song on iTunes in the US, and the album Ocean Eyes reached the top ten on the US album charts and topped the US electronic charts. Ocean Eyes also reached Amazon MP3's top 10 most downloaded album list. By December 2009, it was certified Gold in the United States."

Adam Young has given my ears something to smile about!

Oh How I LOVE

oh how I LOVE musicals...For my love of music and an appreciation for the theater arts... and the exuberant costumes. When those things are all put together, whether it be on the silver screen or in a Broadway theater, ITS MAGIC.

With that being said Musicals are back. It bought me such great joy to see that they were back on the Academy Awards. With Hugh Jackman, Beyonce Knowles, Zac Efron,Vanessa Hudgens(High School Musical) Amanda Seyfried, and Dominic Cooper(Mama Mia).

They Came Together to perform songs from
Chicago, Grease, DreamGirls, Moulin Rouge, and Mama Mia!
Just to name a few.

Check it out.

Kylie Minogue: Superstar

"You can count on the fingers of one hand the number of "pop" artists who've lasted more than a decade, let alone more than two decades! In July 1987 Kylie released her first single, a remake of the 1962 Little Eva hit "Locomotion". The song hit No.1 in Australia and remained in the top spot for seven weeks, becoming the biggest Australian single of the '80's. Twenty years later she now holds the record for the most played female artist on UK radio over the last 20 years!

Since then she has released nine studio albums, two live CDs, seven live concert DVD's, plus her Greatest Hits and the Ultimate Kylie double album and multiple video packages. This is of course in addition to 43 singles released internationally, all of which have been hits.

A breast Cancer survivor. An incredible performer.
